EASTER JOY: Mary in Our Lives

The months of October and May are usually dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. As a community of faith united to the person of Jesus Christ, our Province affirms a special devotion to His Mother, Mary, the first disciple. Because of her fiat we cherish the Blessed Virgin as a precious model and strive to imitate her disposition to service and her habit of contemplation. In prayer we keep all things in our heart which the Redeemer suggests to us when we seek Him, just as our Blessed Mother did. In our places of ministry and apostolic work, we strive to form men and women more fully in the image of Her Son. In our enthusiasm for our work, in our devotion to prayer, and our hospitality towards others, we seek to be like her so that we might also become like her Son.

At the beginning of each day we consecrate ourselves to Mary with a formal act of consecration. The prayer below is today's consecration.

An Act of Consecration to th Blessed Virgin Mary

Mary,
inspired by your readiness to accept
all of the wonders God would work in you,
we offer you our desires toconceive in our hearts,
bear in our lives,
and bring forth into our world Jesus,
Son of God, who became
your Son for the salvation of all.

Under your care, may we receive
your graces of humility and compassion;
may our desire come to fruition,
and may we lovingly echo
your response to God:
"Behold the servant of the Lord."

May the Father and the Son
and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all
places through the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Amen.
